Summary:  A private, non-profit, comprehensive service agency for deaf and hard-of-hearing people, DeafConnect (formerly known as the Interpreting Service for the Deaf) became an HKNC affiliate in 1991. DeafConnect assists people who are deaf-blind with obtaining aids and assistive devices, provides referral to specialized services, provides certified interpreters for any situation, and participates in the Confident Living Program for At-Risk Elderly with Sensory Loss. The DeafConnect also seeks to be a catalyst for change in Tennessee's perception of deaf/blindness and its service delivery system.
